Much gas, urgency, some blood

I have a recurring thing since Aug 2012.  It happens roughly every 6 months which is the strangest part.

What happens is it starts with general nausea and some foul gas.  A couple weeks later, I have insane urgency and way more gas than you'd think a body could hold, along with loose stool and some blood.  It isn't bloody stool, but in the water and sometimes I pass gas and blood comes out??  This normally goes a week or so and then I'm good for another 6 months.

The GI doc doesn't know just from my symptoms but wants to do colonoscopy.

Anyone had these problems?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, haemorrhoids (piles) is the commonest cause for painless bleeding into the stool. Here the bleeding can be intermittent. Another cause is fissure in ano, where there is pain while passing motion with bleeding. Other causes are inflammatory bowel disorders like ulcerative colitis and crohn’s disease can produce similar symptoms. Here the walls of the intestines are swollen. Diverticulitis, infections and tumors of the colon can produce bleeding into the stools. Please follow up with your doctor, a colonoscopy may help to narrow down the cause. Regards.
