Thin stool

I am a 22 year old male. I have a sedentary lifestyle. I had difficulty passing stool for about 6 weeks because I felt there was some obstruction in my rectum or anus and I always felt a heaviness in my anus and rectum. I went to my doctor and she ordered a Barium Enema. I had the enema. For some reason, that cured me of my problem, for about 6 weeks. Then the same problem has started again. I have to go to the bathroom around 10 times a day. The enema result came out normal.

There is a  difference this time. My stool is thinner. I started running regularly and that solved the problem of the heaviness, but now i feel some kind of tingling in my left butt. I have an appointment with a specialist in about 6 weeks but I can't wait that long for an answer because I fear I may have cancer.

This discussion is related to Flat stools.

You should talk to your doctor about starting a daily laxative then.  The barium enema didn't cure your problem, it just got enough stool out because you were already constipated that it kept you from being constipated for a while.  It is thinner because you are constipated, and this sometimes happen when you are constipated.  Are you drinking enough water every day?

Thanks for the reply.

I do consume enough fruits and fiber in my diet.
I just wanted to know why the barium enema cured my problem the first time.

And why is my stool always thinner now? Also its sometimes flat at one end.

And what is that I feel now above my left butt? It started after the heaviness went away. I know its not muscle because it feels deep.

The exercise has helped. But I still have to go to the bathroom several times a day, since the stool comes out little by little.

You almost surely do not have cancer.  You are probably constipated.  Try increasing your fiber intake, drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables, and get some exercise.  These should help.
