Throwing up blood

Hello,
I'm a 26 year old male.  I consider myself to be a moderate drinker.  I work from 8 to 5 so a typical day I might have a couple glasses of wine (about 12-16 ounces) with dinner( I eat really healthy).  On average, I might have a long island (for example) a few nights a week (on weekends & maybe one night a week).  Today, Sunday, I had a mixed drink around 2 pm with maybe 2 ounces of Vodka with 6 ounces Orange Juice.  Then later in the day I had a long island, which is 6 ounces of alcohol in a 12 ounce glass.  I had these in about a three hour period.  I was feeling buzzed but not drunk by any means.  However, I guess it was too much & soon after finishing the long island I felt pretty sick.  I ended up throwing up & toward the end (after about 20 seconds) I threw up blood.  Prior to throwing up I drank maybe 12 ounces of water.  The blood was, in my estimate, a few ounces in volume.  It also came out of my nose which was fairly odd to me.  Did I just tear something or does it indicate something more serious?  I'm sure I drink more than some but less than most.  It might be worth mentioning that I also drink alot of water - at least 64 ounces of water during the day.  Any ideas?

You ever have GI problems?  Could be you have an ulcer or gastroenteritis and have caused irritation.  This resulting in vomiting blood.  However, it could have been the strain of vomiting too.  I agree with CalGal that you should seek medical attention as it's best to be safe.  Hope I helped to some point......thanks and good luck

If you saw blood, no matter how little, it's time to call you doc and get a few tests run. It may turn out to mean very little, but you need to find the source of the problem. Until you see your doctor, I'd suggest you discontinue the used of alcohol or any aspirin or other pain reliever meds such as Advil, etc.
