Hi I an a 44yr old mother and I was today told I have several nodules on my thyroid and some in my esophagus. I also was told I have a hernia in my esophagus. I have been referred to an EN Dr and Gastro. I am concerned what the nodules could be or what there caused from. Has anyone got an answer?

Thanks for your support... I more concerned with the nodules on my thyroid and in my esophagus. cancer runs in both sides of my family..

I have nodules on my thyroid. I had an ultrasound done. Diagnosis: Hashimoto's Thyroid. Please don't assume the worst (i.e. cancer). Nodules are very common in Hashimoto's. Herniated esophagus is a separate issue. They will probably do an Upper GI (painless) to diagnose and will follow up with you on whatever care you may (or may not) need short and long term. I had two hernias. Not something to be scared about right now. Hope I've helped you.
