Common bile duct 10cm dilated.

I had my gallbladder removed on May 18, 2016 due to sludge build up. After the surgery I started having severe pain in that area. Just recently I had an CT Scan done and it showed that the bile duct was 10 cm dilated. A few days later I was hospitalized due to pain and they did an MRI of that area. It apparently showed nothing was blocking the duct. My doctor told me not to worry about the duct being over twice its normal size and that is not what is causing my pain. I want to know if they are lying and I should be worried and get something done about it?
