Why is my doctor asking for AN MRI of my liver?

Recently I have had abdominal pain with loose, mucus stools.  I had an x-ray and ultrasound of my abdominal organs.  Now my doctor has scheduled me for an MRI of my liver, specifically where my gall bladder was removed.  What is he looking for?

I'm not exactly sure- but it's a worth while question that he should answer if you have it.  Did you have your MRI yet?  How are you doing?
