lower left abdominal pain

Fot the past 3 months i have had a weird feeling in the left lower ab area, its not exactly pain but more discomfort/stretchy feeling, very hard to explain. (in one spot an inch or two in from hip, an inch or so above pubis) My GP thinks it is associated with my back but have had treatments with three back expertrs and no change whatsoever!
it is really scaring me and im getting very down about it. There is no blood in stools but i have noticed a clearish mucous after a bowel movement when i wipe. Bowel movements seem ok (i have had IBS for years) and no real change except a tendency to less loose stools than before. I am booked to see a colorectal specialist and am sooo scared. Has anyone else had anything like this? any ideas what it could be? Please help

my 6yr old son is having the same promblem.  It happens about twice a month. Always in the left side.  He has had several xrays and visits to uva but nothing is found.  He never runs a fever but he does vomitt with it.  It usually happens around the night-early morning.  If you find out any info please let me know..
