unexplained weight loss

About a year ago, one night I was having a headache and nausea so I just went to bed. When I woke up, headache and nausea were gone but every time I had a meal, five minutes later I had an explosive bowel movement. That went on for 4-5 days. After that, I started losing weight. I've lost 50lbs in 6 months. I am a male, 5'10. I went from 185lbs to 135lbs. I have been eating well but no matter how much I eat, there's always hunger. Before, my stools looked thicker, harder, compacted, and longer segmented but now, they are smaller segmented, thinner, and soft. More than 50% of time, I have some parts floating. Blood work didn't show anything obvious and stool test came back negative. What could this be?

Maybe your stomach and intestines empty too quickly.  My son has the opposite, where his empties to slowly(gastroparesis).   A gastric emptying test would be able to show if that was the case.

Have you tried eating yogurt enriched with probiotics?  I'm sure all the good bacteria is gone from your intestines with the diarrhea. Our bodies need this and it does make a huge difference in digestion.  It can take up to 10 days to see results so be patient.  But I do hope you are going to see a Gastroenterologist for further evaluation.  This type of diarrhea can be Chrons disease, miscroscopic colitis, diverticulitis and even colon cancer.  You need to be evaluated right away, losing weight when not trying is not a good sign.

Have they tested you for  tapeworms/parasites?  I also think you need a colonoscopy and endoscopy, the tests are inconclusive at this point.  To have thinner stools can indicate a narrowing of the colon which can only be seen via colonoscopy.  See a Gastroenterologist and if all is okay, then see an Endocrinologist to verify that all is working well within your endocrine system which impacts every major organ in your body.  An Endo will do more thorugh testing when it comes to bloodwork.  Good luck and take care.
