Ankle pain!

I broke my ankle last year, and they gave me a hard boot to wear, plus all the things to do and not do with my foot.  I did all that, then I was doing fine without the boot, walking running, bike riding, etc.  Since i was doing okay, and I was low on money, I didn't go back for my aftercare session. Recently, i did a 6 day stint in the hospital, where I would pace the halls whenever I was bored, which was quite a bit.  Ever since then, my ankle is KILLING me.  Pain to the point where I have to put the hard boot back on, and use a cane to walk.  I can put slight pressure on it in the boot, no pressure at all without it.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! - Blu

Hi there,
A clinical examination is absolutely necessary for determining the correct cause of your symptoms. Any trauma, injury, sprain or uncomfortable shoes can provoke ankle pain. You may take an anti-inflammatory medication for pain relief. Try applying any local analgesic gel for relief in pain. If the symptoms are severe it is best to see an orthopaedician. You may need clinical examination and Xrays.Keep me posted.
Best luck and regards!

I would go back to the doctor that gave you the boot and let him x-ray it again to make sure and go from there and I would also do physical therapy. But first go get it checked out. Update me when you do find out. I will be praying for you and good luck.

the dr gave some good advise.  you probably been on your feet too much.  and maybe strained it or pulled it. I had this problem after my mom died.  I was getting ready and I caught my foot on something and got it tangled up and fell.  in a couple it swole up and hurt to walk.  I went to a foot doctor.  he said it was not broken.  I must have sprained it.  he exrayed and thern wrapped my foot up.  then I thought it was all better a couple or three weeks it swole up again, the doctor was not sure.  he wrapped it again.  it has not bothered me since.  mandy876
