my mistake i should say I don't know how long it takes i know that their symptoms took that long before they started to subside and the doctors (my youngest had many doctors as he has a heart and lung issue since birth, all said that this was normal response to someone fighting pneumonia. also I am aware that people can die from pnuemonia, we almost lost our 5 week old to this.
at any rate I hope you feel better.
It should NOT take a "few days" for the antibiotics to work. They should be working within six hours, unless there is an antibiotic -resistant strain of bacteria present. This is a life-threatening situation.
People die from pneumonia and it is nothing to fool with.
As the bacterial population muliplies the danger from toxins released when they are destroyed increases. Lung infections must be dealt with promptly.
if you do have pneumonia it can take a few days for the antibiotics to feel like they are **** something both my kids were n the hospital a few months ago (onein March and one in April) with pneumonia. they were getting nebulizer treatments also around the clock every 4 hours plus IV antibiotic and it took my 12 year old 3 days before he showed any signs of improvement, hope they also gave you something to open up your airway function like an inhaler. this seems to work.
I hope you don't get worse, and good luck to you. it stinks when you are sick.
Thanks guys, I did go back and she said that although I wasn't showing any real improvement I wasn't getting any worse. I'm going to continue to play it by ear, today my chest has felt heavy / pressured more often, but I'll head back on Monday if still not feeling well.
If you are not feeling better, then you should go back to the doctor, especially if this is what the physician has instructed you to do.
you know your own body,if you feel worse then go back ,mind you there isnt alot they can do for brochilitis, and it do get worse before it gets better,it can last for up to ten days, but if they think it could be pneumonia, then get it checked
A bacterial infection of the lung does not get better. People actually die from such infections.
Even if the initial infection is viral, a bacterial infection often piggybacks after a vfew days.
The longer a lung infection goes on the more difficult it is to destroy.
After a time, the infection becomes encapsulated. Furthermore, if the quantity of bacteria becomes high, when they die they release powerful toxins which are often the cause of pneomonia related deaths.
