Gallstones can get stuck in your bile ducts therefore causing the pain. If you think this is happening the pain will begin in the front just under your rib cage and radiate all the way around to your back. What triggers them to get stuck is eating high fat foods.
I had my gallbladder removed at the end of 2009. I had repeated episodes of the above mentioned pain, finally went to the ER. They did an ultrasound and said I was riddled with them. My gallbladder was out a month later.
