i think somethinc toxic went inside my body

hello to all , lately i noticed my roommate is using drain cleaner and sponge to clean kitchen sink , i use the same sponge to clean my mug without noticing , i am now very scared that some of this chemical went inside my body , i just want to ask can i know through blood test and urine test if my body is having some of this chemical , and what blood test are required...
by the way i am felling fine and normal with no side effect whatsoever  , but i want to be sure that nothing of this went inside my body, so can a blood test and urine test be enough ...

thank you so much
regards

Most likely a doctor will need to order any type of lab work.  They can answer that question for you but will tell you, I'm guessing, it isn't necessary.  Blood work and liver function can give an overall view of how different parts of the body ae functioning.  What is it you would like to test for?  Remember, she didn't use drain cleaner like draino with a sponge.  She probably used household cleaning which would be bad to drink but diluted on a used sponge . . .  anyway, give a doctor a call to confirm that you may be worried for nothing.

I would say you are fine.  Remember that water has run over the sponge a lot diluting whatever she has used to clean and you weren't squeezing the sponge water into your mouth. :>)  You washed dishes in it.  Assume you use regular dish washing soap on the sponge as well.  And then you dry the dishes or let them air dry.  So, really, this doesn't sound like it would post a risk.  I do personally keep two sponges, one for kitchen cleaning and one for dishwashing. But the one for dish washing is changed very frequently because those can gather bacteria on them (yuck) which is also not good for you.  So, keep that in mind regarding kitchen sponges too.

I wouldn't worry about this but like rubywitch has advised, if you want to be safe, check it out with poison control.  they are really nice there.  One night, late at night, I called for myself because I took TWO antacids by accident.  After the fact, I realized that was a way over reaction on my part but the man who talked to me about it was beyond nice and patient.  So, give them a shout and ask.

good luck

I seriously doubt there was enough of the drain cleaner on the sponge to do you any harm. I WOULD recommend you drink a LOT of water and just to be on the over-safe side.....I'd call the Poison Control folks and talk to them. If THEY can't ease your mind,  then see your doctor. And for absolute sure have a major discussion with your roommate!!!
