Loss of Appetite

Age, 29 Male. For the last 4-5 days I have had a loss in my appetite. I just do not feel hungry. I still eat for the sake of eating regularly. I believe this all stems back to 5-7 days ago when I had some bad salsa. My stool would be at a 3 or 4 but now it is a 5(based on the Bristol Stool Scale). After eating that salsa, I noticed red spots in the stool for a day or 2, so I stopped eating anything that had red in it, and monitored my stool. I did not see those spots again for a few days, had tomatoes last night, noticed red spots again today . I am not feeling tired, I can workout as I normally do, I am not feeling nauseous, nor feeling any abdominal pain. It's the loss of my appetite, after eating, I am belching quite a bit as well. Just wondering what this could be? Thanks.

I normally wait for a week or two before I have to go to the doctor. I do not want to be that person that runs to the doctor for little things. I believe the body will self-medicated itself if it is something nothing too serious. A year ago or so I had gastroenteritis, I had stomach cramps, my appetite had locked up and its other symptoms. I did not see any red spots(which is why mentally it was a relief), and I let it clear up, which it did, took nearly a couple weeks but I was fine after that. I do believe this is something that is somewhat the same, minus the cramps and whatnot. Now, I can hear my stomach adjusting to what I have put in it today. Personally, I think I am feeling a little better, thanks again.

No probs at all. Yes, we all know that loss of appetite can mean sinister things but as you said you have no other symptoms, no fatigue etc. There are so many more things that statistically it's more likely to be and its very unlikely that it's anything sinister really. The more you worry yourself about it the worse it might get. Why not visit the doctor if only to put your mind at rest.  I'm sure you will be fine but as it's causing you concern why not put your mind at rest and visit the doctor. Yes I've had the stool scare, forgot I'd eaten beetroot, silly me. You can get red in stools from many a thing, red wine, tomatoes, all sorts.

No, I am not overly worried about anything, only thing I can think of is when I saw those red spots in my stool that freaked me out, thinking it was blood.Which I monitored for a few days and it was not(and has not re-appeared since eating that salsa and bad tomatoes). Then of course I did reading on what it could be, then of course human nature kicks in thinking it is the worse of the worse. But then, I am not feeling sick by any means(Not vomiting, no stomach pains, not feeling tired), it is my appetite that is locked up. My assumption is it is psychosomatic, thinking I am sick. I can easily go ride my bike for 6 miles right now, but I fear of losing weight since I have not been eating at my normal capacity. I felt a little hungry today after using the restroom, which was encouraging because I had not felt hungry for nearly a week. I took it slowly, had a granola bar and blended milk with a banana. Because when I force myself trying to eat too much, it is a let down because I just do not want to eat. I guess I will continue to monitor this and thank you.

Impossible to say. Could be the salsa. Could be the onset of a virus. Could be anxiety, are you worried about anything? When I worry too much about something I lose my appetite. As I said it is impossible to give an answer. If it persists you should definitely see your doctor who can run some tests.
All the best.
