Pain in right side, liver cyst. Why the pain? How can I find if it's cancer or not?

Hello everyone,I was just diagnosed with a liver cyst and diverticulosis while getting a CT scan of my abdomen for abdominal pain. The dr. said that these things should not cause any pain. Problem is is that there is pain. My whole right mid quadrant where my liver is is hurting on and off. Sometimes the pain is worse then others. Is this serious? I read up that that is a sign of liver cancer as well as possibly hepatitis, liver failure and several other very serious things. What should I do? What can be done to get to the bottom of this and find out what is really going on? Also is there anything I can ask him for for the pain? I also have been extremely tired(don't know if it's allergies or not) and notice alot of weight loss(in my face anyway)

It sounds like a bad virus. Why is the doc giving you antibiotics? Did they think your lungs didn't sound good? Hope you feel better soon.

Yeah ,agreed with you. It only makes perfect sense to go through with getting it. It would be stupid not to! Yeah, you aren't kidding. It would be far worse to get the disease. Oh wow, autism? Oh yeah, I've heard of that too that anti depressants are REALLY bad for pregnant women. That is too bad. That it awful. Hey i'm glad to hear that you are doing ok today. That is awesome news to hear from you. Oh wow, i'm sorry about the soreness. You can do it! I know you can. I'm sorry it hurts though.Yes, sounds like it would be worth it in the long run. Keep your hopes up though. You can do it and like you said it is worth it. Hey hanging in there today. Just trying to get better. I've got some kind of infection where my face is on fire, swallowing gunk, eyes burning and fluid is just pouring out of my nose and my left jaw is hurting really bad. Hanging in there though with some antibiotics though, thank you. You have a great day.

Yes I hope more people get it. I can't understand why anyone wouldn't. There is fear about vaccines but usually the side effects are far less than the disease they prevent. They thought that vaccines caused autism. But now there is evidence that supports that pregnant mothers on antidepressants give their kids autism. I'm doing ok today. Yesterday I was really sore. But, I'm trying to get stronger and that hurts. It is worth it in the long run but I have a long way to go to get out of being atrophied. Hope you are doing ok today.

Hey, thank you very much on the info. Meh, that doesn't sound so bad! :) Sounds like a good idea really. Yes, sounds like you are right that it is worth it for sure. Probably a wise idea in a state that has such a high rate of this gin around too, isn't it? I believe it is mandatory for kids in school to get it too but don't know. Hope they do, poor kids don't need that!  Thank you, hope your week is turning out well.

FYI, the Hep B vaccine is one initial shot and two boosters (three total over a period of about 6 months I think, don't remember how long for sure). I got a little flu like symptoms after the second shot but not really sick and only one day. It is worth it for sure!!! Have a good rest of the weekend too.

Hey ,thank you so much. This is a very helpful reply! Very insightful. Ok so there is a Hep B vaccine that requires 2 boosters. K. Gotcha. Ok, then every 10 years you check your antibodies and get a booster shot? That doesn't sound so bad... really! That's too bad about there not being a vaccine yet for Hep C. Hopefully soon, right? :) Glad to hear you got the Hep A vaccine. Good deal, and it really doesn't sound too bad. Yeah! Mexico would be cool. I always thought it would be cool to check out the Mayan pyramids and temples and see the hieroglyphs as well as the "mayan calander" as a vacation. :D Sorry you didn't go. Hey that IS great about your immunity for Hep A. :) Way to go. Well, that is hopeful to hear if worse comes to worse...at least you weren't like oh, there is no treatment at all and you are 100 percent screwed. Haha. That is good to know. Oh yeah! That is gross. I've heard of that happening too(people getting sick from unwashed hands and fecal matter in their food) Ok, thank you for all of this information. It has been of great hope and help. You are awesome and very knowledgeable. Thank you so very much. You are of tremendous help. God bless you and try to have an awesome weekend.

There is a Hepatitis B vaccine that requires 3 boosters. Then you really should get your antibodies checked see if you are immune. Then every 10 years you check your antibodies and /or get a booster shot. They don't have a vaccine yet for Hep C. I got a vaccine for Heptatis A and that is two shots one then a booster after a few months. I thought I might travel to Mexico or some place like that but we didn't. Now I have immunity to hep A which is great. As for cure for Hep B , C or the others there is treatment I'm not sure it really cures you 100%. I think they use interferon, but there is another drug too that I can't think of. It is farily effective in keeping your immune system up and the virus down. You can go into remission. Hep A is easier to get. Usually, you get it like any other food poisoning such as fecal oral (Gross but true). For example a person cooks your meal and uses the bathroom and doesn't wash their hands and is sickor a carrier. Or if they have norovirus or Hepatitis A they can spread it by touching the food they prepare. I doubt this is what you have as it would have shown up on the CT and liver enzymes and you get jaudice (yellow eyes and skin) etc.

Hey, ok that is great to know. Yes, very good to know. THankUhg, type A is easier to get. Do you know if there is a cure to it if one does become infected? Ok, thank you that is very good to hear. Yes, you know what my stupid memory held this back until now. I have been tested for one of the forms of hepatitis. Not sure which one but it was negative which I am thankful for. Wow, 3 shots over time...ok. Thank you so very much again. You have a great weekend my friend.

No you can't get Hepatitis from saliva. It is blood and body fluid for type B and C. Type A you can get more easily. I doubt you have it given your past except for the one girlfriend. I would get tested then if negative get the vaccine. It is a course of 3 shots over time.

Hey, thank you very very much for this reply. Ok, this is great to hear. Yes, hepatitis is REALLY bad here in New Mexico from all of the heroin use out here.I do not do any drugs but I have done some stupid things like sharing soda, cigs(when I used to smoke) with people and i'm not sure but think my ex girlfriend had been and still might be very promiscuous behind my back and we still have relations in that way too...so yes there are three or 4 different types of hepatitis, right? Yes, the pain is alarming and I don't know either. It's hurting in my back around it too. :( :( No no vaccine. I have been meaning to get it but haven't yet. Is hepatitis curable? This may sound ridiculous but I am half convinced some people who work in restaurants that may have it are bitter and want others to have it may spit in food or drinks and I do eat fast food but am not sure of how real this possibility could be. I've heard of people doing worse things to food. No none has ever checked my appendix before. Yes, i've had a CT scan and an MRI and alot of upper chest X-rays and 1 lower abdominal X-ray. Thank you again so very much. This means alot.

Hi, just wanted to say that the CT scan should be able to distinguish from a liver cyst and a tumor (cancerous) and also with hepatitis or liver failure your liver enzymes would be high and probably your liver enlarged. But if you want to rule out hepatitis you can get a blood test. I don't know why you are having pain with it except that maybe the cyst is pushing on something like a nerve inside and causing pain. I wish I could help you more. Haven't you had the hepatits B vaccine? If not then get your liver enzymes done and the hepatits test done and if negativ then get the vaccine. But of course you could have been exposed to a different type of Heptatis like C, or other types. But, usually you get the Hep C from a transfusion, Sharing needles from a drug user or sometimes permiscous sex. So, i doubt that you have type C. But, you could get a blood test for B and C. I don't know if they have one for the other types but usually if you had it you would have a swollen liver and I think they would see it on CT scan. Have you had anyone check your appendix? I know you have had a lot of scans but I don't remember if they checked you for this?
