Pain

I am a 23 year old female. For the past 6 months I have been battling severe abdominal bloating and an overall feeling of poor health. I have been expierriencing severe abdominal pain that is sharp and stabbing for the past few weeks. I have been in and out of the ER. They tested gallbladder and it came back fine. I now have swollen fingers. I also am 7 days late on period and i am not pregnant. Any suggestions???

Hi, I just remembered something else that sounded a bit familiar to me.  I also had severe bloating because I had developed cysts on my uterus, benign fibris cysts years ago, which caused a great deal of pain in my abdomen as well.  I'm sure female problems can cause swelling due to water retention.  I hope you are feeling better...  ♥

I have had problems with bloating all of my life, maybe even an irritable bowel, and sharp gas pains in my abdomen.  I have to eat very small meals and never get 'overly full.'  Otherwise I feel very discomforted and miserable.  To be safe, I'd see a gastroenterologist if I were you, to rule out any bowel or colon disorders. Diet, and the amount of food we eat has a lot to do with gastro disorders and bloating and discomfort.  A lot of it is also genetic I have found, because it runs in my family.  Not sure about your swollen fingers, could have something to do with water retention, not sure.  I can only suggest having your colon checked for any disorders.  :)  Take care, and I can sympathize with you.

The severe abdominal pain sounds like constipation and gas...constipation CAN casue you to feel bad if it goes on for long enough...(to just feel as if you are of poor health in general). My husband has severe swelling of his hands and we think it is caused from his Triglycerides being very high. The lateness on your period could just be from stress...used to happen to me all the time. Good luck!!!
