Potassium

So around 3 months ago I went to urgent care with lower back pain they did a urine & blood test they said the urine came back fine but I had to go back a week later for my blood resaults so I go back kidneys and all came back good except my potassium it was 7.5.To begin with they had no idea how to take my blood poking me everywhere then they didn't send the blood out until 2 days later so she said soemtimes it gives a false reading did another one went back and the lab couldn't check the blood so I got insurance made an appt with a doctor did a blood text everything came back good potassium was 5.3 but I sufer from health anxiety/panic disorder and now all I think about is my potassium.

Do you guys think it was a false reading? If it was really high would it have went down by itself?

You will have fluctuating readings from day to day depending on several environmental factors the most influential being diet.

Having had an acute episode of renal failure in the past, I can say that if you're not eating the foods that are high in potassium and not supplementing potassium, then the potassium can actually go down like that in three months.  I don't think you need to really panic.  All you really need to do is go see your doctor who noted the high potassium and have that doctor retest your potassium.  If it has been going down like that already and you're feeling better than when it was first tested, then likely the potassium has gone down to where it should be.  And, yes, within three months sounds about how quickly mine recovered.

5.3 is OK If you're that panicked then have another blood test! Unless you can't get to your doctor don't go to these urgent care facility's
