Scar Tissue

Do scars itch or swell even long after a surgery at random times?

Yes, definitely.  I had a tattoo removed late last spring/ early summer, and it still itches from time to time.  I asked my doctor about it and she said that it is still healing.  The itching is due to new cell growth and can be calmed down using aloe and any anti-itch cream over the counter.  Use the aloe first then the cream or mix together and apply to area.  This should help.  You can also go to your local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist what they might recommend.  Good luck.

I believe they do. I personally know that some can. I had a C-section delivery in 2000, and now 12 years after it, I still find that scar waking up occasionally, to feel so itchy and bothersome, that I tend to scratch at it, or end up just shaving the area to eliminate that factor.

Try applying a moisturizing lotion for severe dry skin and see if that helps any. I know I have also tried Cornhuskers lotion, for really bad cases of it, and for calluses.

This could be from an infection or new cell growth in the area possibly due to weight gain.Is it hot ,puffy or painful ? Try massaging the scar with a hypo-allergenic cream or lotion ..
