Sick with something weird, not sure what it is, please help!

Hey everyone. I'm a 23-year old male and I have lots of different symptoms going on right now.

About 2-3 weeks ago, I went to the doctor that our college has for students. I came in to treat my throat, it was slightly painful and scratchy especially upon waking up, and it was like this for the past two or three months prior. I also noticed that I had lymph nodes around my neck that were swelling up. She prescribed me 10 day's worth of Penicillin after finding that I had a small amount of strep throat, and she also noticed I was running a slight fever and she said I was either recovering from being sick, or about to be sick.

During my time on Penicllin, I felt really bad, although I'm not sure if it was the drug's fault, could have just been a fever/flu of some kind. I was having stomach aches and headaches constantly, and I had a fever. If I did light exercise, like walking around at work, I felt dizzy and winded, and the corners of my vision would start to blacken a little.

Anyways, fast-forward to now: I feel a little better, but my symptoms are pretty weird now. I've noticed that my lower-left abdominal area below my rib cage has been swollen and hard to the touch, while my right side feels pretty normal. I haven't been particularly gassy lately either.

This next one is for people that are familiar with male anatomy: Lately my penis has been hurting. It's a persistent sore feeling, most noticeable when I'm erect, say, before waking up. I can relieve most of the pain through masturbating and making it flaccid, but it's still noticeably sore even hours after doing this. My sex-drive has been very low for the past 2-3 weeks. I'm a virgin, so the chances of it being an STD seem pretty low to me.

Another symptom that has been concerning is that lately I've been developing eye floaters. You know, large dark spots in your vision that can make it difficult to see or read properly. I've been noticing them for maybe 4 or 5 days now. My right eye has two which kind of look like cat eyes and won't go away, and my left eye now has three, mainly clustered around the center. I normally have perfect vision and I've never needed glasses before.

Lastly, I think the lymph nodes in my neck have gotten worse. I'm having a lot of swelling around the sides and front of the neck area, and I've noticed it's been hard for me to even swallow my over-the-counter pills, like Advil PM. I've been eating lots of soft food, such as rice, apple sauce, and various fruits. I haven't had much of an appetite lately but I think I might be starting to get one again.

Whew, that's about it! I have plans to eventually go to a doctor, hopefully the day after tomorrow, but I just wanted to know if any of this seemed serious enough to see one right away. Thanks for reading.

Have you seen the doctor yet? Some of what you have written sounds similar to Chronic Fatigue syndrome. I would ask for an Epstein Barr blood test, this will help to determine if this is the case.

As to your eyes, I would also suggest seeing an eye doctor (ophthalmologist), eyes are their specialty and they can perhaps with the floaters and other problems.

You may have been suffering from some adverse reactions to penicillin, which include nausea, neurotoxicity, and superinfection (likely Candida), all consistent with your complaints so far.
Have you reported this to your treating/prescribing doctor?
S/he must know about this and it should go on your medical records, in the event this is indeed a case of significant  adverse reactions to penicillin.

Please consider posting again to let us know the outcome.
I would be glad to offer you some drugless suggestions, hopefully to help you return to your pre-strep throat  state of health.

Cheers.
Niko
