Stopping doxycycline for acne?

I was on Doxy 100mg for about a month for antimalarial reasons, saw a slight improvement in my skin, and was then prescribed Doxy 50mg for acne indefinitely. I’ve been on this for about 3 weeks.

I have definitely noticed fewer pimples, but I still have the odd one here and there. I’ve also been using 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel which I think has worked wonders.

I would like to go off Doxy 50mg to see if it is the Doxy or the Benzoyl which has helped my skin. Is it safe to do so, or will I be increasing the likelihood of the acne bacteria forming resistance and coming back stronger since I still have a few pimples??

If I do start to break out once I stop taking it, would it be okay or worthwhile to start taking it again?
Thanks heaps!

Long term use of any antibiotic causes development of antibiotic resistant bacteria. .Plus antibiotics interfere with normal cell replication. This causes problems if you become pregnant. They also can cause hearing loss. It is often difficult to evaluate the risks.

These medicines may have a side effect in the long term and if you are young  it may also impact your physical development. Strong from inside shows from outside. Build a good immunity, eat right, clean and healthy. And I think it is better to resort to natural products for relief. And mostly with time the conditions improve with age. It is best to stop after you have completed your dose for the time prescribed by an expert.

I don't think it will hurt at all to stop, I don't like long-term antibiotics as they can also kill all the friendly bacteria and flora in your system, this, too, can cause acne issues. One thing, have you tried Vitamin A, this can  help with acne.
