Swelling fingers?

Ok so today I have noticed when I woke up about an hour or so later my right index finger was swelling, not a lot but it was slightly pink and big and kinda burned. Anyways it freaked me it and eventually it went away but then several hours later, right now which is nighttime I noticed my left index finger started feeling the same way and surely enough it's slightly swollen barely noticeable but still noticeable.
Anyone know what this could be?
It is worrying me.
I think it may be because about 5 days ago I started a vitamin, the one a day women's and i think it may be connected because several years ago I took the one a day teens advantage and I started to get red dots all below my knees to my feet as once I stopped them they disappeared. Could I be allergic to something in the vitamins?
It's not a medical emergency is it?
And no I haven't broken my fingers or had any trauma to them lately. This is completely random and new.

Especially since this summer has been so hot and moist, I would say it might just be the heat. Red bumps from the knees down could be irritation after shaving your legs due to the moisture in the air or due to sweat, and fingers are notorious for swelling in the heat. Either way, you could always try stopping the vitamins altogether to see whether the symptoms go away.

You could be right, that you are allergic to something new that you are taking. Stop it and see if the swelling would go away again like it did with your other episode. You are a good observer. If the swelling does not subside, then you need to get it checked.
Take care.

You might need to see a rheumatologist to determine if you have Lupus.  It does affect the fingers....

The common causes are trauma, idiopathic edema, liver or kidney disease, allergic reaction etc.The other underlying causes could be thyroid malfunction, heart ailments, blood disorders, arthritis, or infections.
