If it has a strong odor it could be a bacterial infection as well. sometimes they can go away on their own but without treatment i believe that they do come back.  this is something you dont want to ignore because vaginal problems that go untreated can cause damage to reproductive organs sometimes.  good luck honey

To start - every woman has a discharge before her period. This is normal and can also happen at other times during the month.
A little more info might help us help you....
What color is the discharge?
Do you notice an odor (other than normal) a strong fishy odor to be exact?
Do you have any burning when you urinate, is your vagina itching a lot?
You could have vaginitis, depending on your answers to these questions? It could be a completely normal discharge that will come and go, again depends on your answers to these questions. I hate to jump to extremes like STDs when more info is needed. If you can answer these questions, I could offer a more informed opinion and some possible solutions. Try not to get to anxious about it until you find out more.

Your problem raises a series of questions.  I know you said you are only 13, but have you had sex? (I HOPE NOT! YOU ARE TOO YOUNG!)  If not, then you need not worry about STDs/STI, still you need to be aware of the subject.  What do you mean by smelly? Well, anyway, why couldn't you ask your mom or another close female relative about it?
