forgot to mention that is normal. I sometimes get the brown discharge or even a red spot or dot like. I know right away that I am gona start.  Though some people are different I never had cramps while I had my period. I am fortunate in that aspect. I did experiance later in life like 2 years ago that my breast would feel sore and my body would ache a little. I knew at that also. I do know what stomach cramps felt like but not because of my period but because of natural gases that was painful. So I can only imagine what you are going through. I am sorry you are going through this pain.

You just started your period eventhough it is brown discharge it is a sign. The pain in your getting are menstral cramps. Time for bed wear an over night pad right away just incase of over flow and put a towel fold it in half lay on it so you dont stain your sheets. Wash out the stain with hot water and soap by hand.  The reason why your discharge is brown is because your body is so warm that it heated and it stayed in your system for a while. hope this info helps.

The only time I would get a brownish discharge was during menopause.

Hi and sorry you are having this problem. There is a womens health section and I would refer you to that. My advice is see a GP or gynecologist due to the stomach problem with your discharge problem.
take care,
