Have bursitis in hip..can anyone have advise ASAP?? Hurting BAD!
Yesterday in the ER I was diagnosed with bursitis of the hip and its a horrible pain. No pain meds only an ibprohen. I can't get any relief! Ive been icing it 20mins every hour like that said and have not on my feet much. Will this heal quickly or at least will the pain subside? If anyone has had this & have no meds that helped plse let me know what to do ASAP..thanks!

First off you need to get a dr. bursitis is horrible and very painful. You can get pain meds and steroid shots that will help. The healing depends on how bad the inflammation is and if there is an infection. Try to stay off your feet as much as possible and if you don't improve go see your dr. also try to cushion your hip to relieve pressure. Sorry this is not that helpful I hope you are better soon. Well just got home from the ER,,they didnt give me that shot but I was in so much pain she thought I had a stress fracture in my hip! & They gave me morphine & it didnt touch it so they had to give me dilaudid too! It took the pain away but I know this will wear off. So Im gonna wait for a work day & go to my doc to get that cortisone shot to get me thru working. I pray I can get this thing healed over the weekend..they didnt find anything more than bursitis she just said it was a bad case & I shouldnt have pushed myself like I did for work..but I had no choice & really still dont so all I can do is pray

Soooo much worse today! HORRIBLE! I got outta bed this morning and thought my hip was going to give out! I had to go to work I had no choice..Ive cried all day & my boss is like aw hope you feel better! my co workers were so mad she wouldnt let me leave I had to limp and everything to not just scream so finally I called the ER doc who saw me and told em everything & they said I must be seen in the next 24 hrs bc of how bad it is...I told my boss & she was like idk will see if you can leave. So 3 hrs later another co worker told her she'd cover me bc they were sick of seeing me walk around in that much pain. So i'm going back to emergent care in just a little while. I hope nothing is worse...It seemed to be ok yesterday..still hurt though..but bam this morning was no joke..so hopefully they will give me that shot & I pray some meds to knock me out I cant take this much longer :( thank you for you advice sis
The shot was definitely worth it for me. I would talk to you dr and see what you are and are not supposed to do. I am sure it can get worse by using your hip you will just be aggravating it all over again. Bursitis is basically a fluid buildup in your joints from overuse or an sudden injury. The shot will help the pain and if your assistant is willing to help out that will be fantastic. I know how kids are and I am sure they give you a workout every day lol. If work will allow you to I would see if it is ok to lift the child while you are sitting down that way you have less weight on your hip and you are still helping the kids. As for the walking with them try to get a taller kid so you don't have to lean as much maybe :/ I was lucky I didn't have to do anything when I had mine so I can't even imagine what you are going through. I have no idea what the shot cost either but you can always talk with your dr and see. Best wishes I hope you are pain free soon, Sissie
Oh ok yeah Ive been trying to keep something with more cushion around me. I think I may at least have my doc give me a shot bc my work is not going to let me be out except thoughs 2 days. I just dont know how much that shot cost with out insurance & working with kids its very physical..bending and such..kinda work. Im scared Im gonna do more damage to it though continuing to work bc when the kids get out of control etc. I have to pick them up or guide them by the arm which is bending low that really hurts. Can it get more serious or alot worse if I continue to work..I'm trying to do as less as possible and let my assistant take over what I cant do though...even though I end up doing some of it.
It should only take about two weeks for the inflammation to go down but it will be two weeks of hell. You more than likely don't have an infection because its in your hip. If you think you can make it until your insurance kicks in then wait but if not go to your dr and see about getting a cortisone shot. Mine lasted a little over two weeks and the pain was from my hip down my leg, it felt like it was in a vise being crushed. After a few test on my leg ( I happen to have a metal rod in that one) my dr had me stand and pushed on my hip the pain was so unbearable I yelled and almost collapsed. He said I will be right back you have bursitis. He gave me the shot and I walked out of there feeling brand new. (I had been having to use a wheelchair to get around). As far as the cushion I meant a pillow to sit on and lay one between your legs, it takes the pressure off the hip. I also used a bean bag at a angle under my leg when I sat. I have no idea why that helped I just noticed that when it really got to throbbing I could hold my leg at a certain angle and it helped so I stuffed a bead bag under it. Also what do you mean by cushion? Bc if like my legs arent even (I cant even un straighten my legs when I lay)it hurts
Yeah the ER docs & my work act like this is nothing. My boss acted like she wanted to fire me bc Im out for 2 days Idk how Im going to go back tomorrow in this much pain (Im a prechool teacher so I must bend to clean low tables, stand & sit many times, bend over to even speak to the kids, change kids if they wet themselves, I have the 3 yr old class so sometimes you must pick them up if they do not listen or if they get hurt..which happens everyday) Not to mention Im on my feet all day..never sit unless we do art or something. Its crazy. What kind of doc should I go to for this? My insurance doesnt kick in for a few more weeks so should I wait till then? How will I know if its infected? the er didnt help much so I have no clue what to do. Im scared to see how I feel when I get off work tomorrow. My hip hurts so bad I just wonna cry! Thank you and plse let me know
