I just noticed a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck, kinda behind my ear lobe....it hurts. I thought maybe a blind pimple but my husband says no. I have a slight ear ache and starting to get a sore throat....connected perhaps or should i be panicking??
it's been years that i palpated my lymph node (submandibular lymph node) and up to now, i still can palpate it. it "never" change in size for the past years. still about 1cm to half an inch in size. my ENT doctors told me that this size is normal and i should not worry but i'm just wondering why other NORMAL people doesn't have it (this kind of palpable lymph node with size like mine)or i mean i cannot palpate their lymph nodes like mine. and it's been years.. i'm just wondering if this is normal, why do other normal people don't have it? when i had my ultrasound of the neck, they noticed the lymph nodes but it's size is something not to worry bout they said. i can only palpate 1 half-inch size lymph node but in the ultrasound, it's about 5-6 lymph nodes with about half an inch in size to so the doctors doesn't pay attention to it. i need further explanation bout this situation. is it really something not to worry about?? a Normal one that not all normal people have?
HI, IM 40YR OLD FEMALE....I PALPATED A LYMPH THE SIZE OF M&M CANDY....LOCATED IN THE INGINAL AREA. RIGHT IN THE CREASE OF MY RT LEG....MY PRIMARY GAVE ME AUGMENTIN 875MG....FOR TEN DAYS, MEDICINE IS ALMOST GONE, HAVE FOUR PILLS LEFT TO TAKE IN THE COURSE OF TWO DAYS, I AM A DRINKER OF WINE SOMETIMES...I CAN STILL SLIGHTLY FEEL THE LYMPH, BUT NOT AS MUCH, AND ITS NOT SO TENDER AS ONCE BEFORE....SHOULD I WORRY.......TONYA
Doesn't sound like a threat to me, but then again my lymph node swelled up like the size of an apple which which was apparently Hodgkins disease. My doctor told me that if it doesn't hurt when you press on it (which was my case), it is more dangerous.
Your's is probably nothing, though it wouldn't hurt to see your doctor again and make sure that it is not a problem. Lymph nodes usually swells up a little when the body is fighting viruses (cold, flu, etc) or if there's an open wound.
