potassiumchloride er 20

My doctor wants me to take one tablet a day of Potassium ER 20.  I need to crush it to take it as the pill is too large due to a lap band.  I cannot take anything that has a fizz in it due to my lap band. The pharmacist said it was ok to crush it and my doctor knows that I need to do this.  Is there something else out there for me to use? A liquid that doesn't fizz?  Or is crushing this ok? I crush it then put it in my mouth then swish it down with water.  I have not had any stomach issues.  I am having some leg pain in my shin area under the bone but do not know if this is causing it.  I am to go to have an
x ray done as my doctor doesn't think that this is related.

Crushing the tablet into powder is perfectly acceptable.

I would say that it is fine to crush the tablet, it will not change the effectiveness of it.
