the body has a reaction and rejects anything that shouldnt be there..including tampons.. you would know about it if you did..you would have infection..pain..smell etc.. eg..look what happens if you get a splinter in  ye finger..it swells.gets infected and becomes painful till its removed... same thing just like jackie said..change it regularly x

Yes, Toxic shock syndrome was what I was trying to remember the name of. It is dangerous to leave tampons in too long.

you can get something called Toxic....bla bla bla.....and can actually cause death..... you supposed to change tampons every 3 - 4 hours ......

And there is also a risk of TSS, or toxic shock syndrome.

You need to go to your GP or gynecologist and have them do a pelvic exam. An old tampon can cause problems due to all the bacteria that will collect on it.
