Given how unhealthy smoking is, my advice is to use this as an opportunity to quit. You've already gone a week so the nicotine is out of your system. The worst of the physical withdrawal process is past.

Your healing with be faster if you don't resume smoking. Smoking causes decreased blood circulation throughout your entire body that lasts for hours after you finish your cigarette. This increases your blood pressure, which damages your blood vessels and due to the decreased circulation, your tissues do not receive all the oxygen and nutrients they need, thus slowing the healing process.

For specifics on when it is safe to resume certain activities, such as smoking, your BEST source of information is your surgeon who is familiar with your case.

Christine is spot on! I just want to encourage you to quit. This is super hard, but you have made it through the most difficult part!
