Severe chest pain!

I just had severe chest pain that lasted approx. 2 minutes. I could't talk or move because the pain was so severe. Unfortunately, this is not the first time its happened. About 6 months ago, it was happening like every 4 days. All these times were the same, severe chest pain, couldnt talk or move.

I had been diagnosed with gastritis about 8 years ago. I haven't seen a doctor ever since. I am taking over-the-counter Prevacid.

I had foods that cause gas yesterday and still suffering the gas problems today.

So my question is: Can gas cause chest pain? Please help!

Ditto to the above comments! If a cardiac work-up doesn't reveal anything, and if this happens again (please call 911 if it happens again! -Sometimes medics can see a heart problem on their monitors before it goes away again) it may be esophageal spasms causing the problem. My GI Dr handles these by having the patient gulp ice water. -I guess the shock of the cold relieves the spasms...But it is nothing to mess with -the worst-case scenario could be the worst day in your life if you ignore the problem....~MM

Yes it can cause chest pain but since yours was so severe, I would get to the nearest hospital immediately to have a full cardiac check up.

PLEASE, PLEASE go to the ER, this could be a warning if an impending heart attack.
Gas can cause chest pain, but, when it is like yours, I would get it checked NOW.
