Teresa, recurrent RUQ pain after removal of the gallbladder should be evaluated. A retained or new stone in the common bile duct is a possibility. If your gallbladder was removed for biliary dyskinesia it is also possible that there is also a malfunctioning sphinter (sphincter of Oddi) where the bile duct enters the intestine. I agree with Katrina0807 that gastritis or pancreatitis are possible but these are more likely to hurt in the center of the upper abdomen.  Bloodwork to look at your liver function is the first step.  If these are abnormal, an MRI to examine the bile duct would be ordered.

Hi Teresa, you might want to visit the doctors who saw you before you had your gallbladder removed for a follow-up consult. The most common causes of the pain you're describing are gastritis, pancreatitis, or a stone in your common bile duct. Your doctors can request for the proper blood tests and/or imaging procedures to determine if these are the culprits or if your symptoms are due to some other condition.

HI, you should get liver function tests to see if you might have a stone that is stuck in your main bile duct. It is important you do not ignore this, especially if your nauseated or the whites of your eyes are turning yellow. It could be blocking the flow of bile. The same thing a kidney stone is made out of and also if you have pain there as well it could be kidney related due to refer pain. So you should get blood and urine test asap.

the other problem that could arise after surgery is scar tissue building up causing adhesions..that is why it causes the pain..so the Doctor should send you for a ct scan..good luck
