I am the person who is positive without detectable antibodies past 6 months. I've had multiple antibody tests past 6 months of unprotected sex. From all I've read everybody says 3 months, but then I keep reading about ppl turning up positive after 6 months who are continuing to experience severe symptoms as I am. I've only had antibody and am horrified for no my girlfriend is starting to experience all the same symptoms starting with extremes muscle fatigue and headaches. I am too terrified to test again and know that I'm goin to turn positive due to my symptoms all lining up to hiv. I have excessive eye floaters, white tongue, very high blood pressure, severe muscle ache and twitching constantly, light colored stools, follicitis, very dry scalp, drainage feeling in my penis, and constant ear ringing!!!! What else does all this point to if not hiv? All that stuff is extreme hiv symptoms of ppl with no antibodies and rapid progression to aids and death!!!! Now I've infected my girlfriend who has a child!!! I've tested negative for all stds, hiv 1/2, hepatitis, htlv1/2 at six months. Had a normal CBC, ANA, and liver function test at 4 months. Also at six months I had a normal immunoglobulin test. I'm not producing antibodies and don't know why? All I was diagnosed with was mono a month after exposure of unprotected vaginal sex with a random bar girl who is very nasty I was drunk and have no idea how I even got erect. :( my whole life is over now. I've read teak and all them saying absolutely everybody produces antibodies by 6 months so then why are ppl still testing positive later?? I have nothing left. :(
You've been reading too much crap on the internet- symptom surfing. The internet wasn't created so that non-medical professional can diagnose themselves by plugging in a list of 'symptoms'. HIV tests are some of the most accurate known today and your tests prove that you are producing antibodies. Guess what? If you weren't producing antibodies, guess were you would be? You wouldn't be here to read this, you would be DEAD. HIV is not diagnosed by symptoms and there are far more common causes that explain your and your girlfirend's symptoms.
THIS FORUM'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Make an appointment with a psychologist.
2. Make another appointment with a psychiatrist.
3. Stop reading about HIV symptoms on the Internet.
If you follow these three recommendations, this should help you with your issue.
Oh, I have a fourth recommendation that I forgot. It is perhaps most important:
4. STAY AWAY FROM HIV FORUMS.
Your clearly getting a warped perspective of times to seroconversion from HIV forums, which is not accurate or scientific. It's almost as if you are actively looking for reasons to be infected. Mental health professionals will address the root cause of this.
So you are sayin with these symptoms of which I've never had in my life until that unprotected sexual encounter that there is no chance I have hiv and have it to my gf? I just dunno what else to do? I've seen a therapist, but nothing is makin these symptoms go away, not meds or anything. I haven't been symptom searching, I just know the symptoms I have and hiv was the only std that matches what's goin on. I've tested negative for all stds at 6 months, but all I've had for hiv is elisa tests. I tested five times but I'm just scared it wouldn't matter if I wasn't producing antibodies to it. I've never been this messed up in my life. I always had unprotected with my ex and had no problem accepting my status before because I had no symptoms. I can't accept my status now only cuz things are majorly wrong and now my current girlfriend is starting the same way I did. :(
ELISA tests are all that you need. Whatever is going in with you has nothing to do with HIV. The test for mono measures antibodies so that PROVES that you are capable of producing antibodies. You don't have HIV.
Many of your symptoms are consistent with anxiety and some you may just noticed because you are more focused on your body. The way to break the cycle is to treat your anxiety.
You are focused on your girlfriend because you cheated and feel guilty, and don't want to give her anything. So you are falsely reading signs in her that don't exist in reality.
I didn't cheat on her. We got together 3 months after the incident. I just know what is goin on. I hear hiv can reactivate mono. It was a monospot test. But mono should not last this long, and doesn't have all these symptoms. :( I tried cymbalta and a therapists for awhile. I had side affects to cymbalta so my doc let me come back off it, and the therapist only helped with home issues and can't help with what is really physically handicapping me. I do completely respect your opinion though. I just don't know what else to do? I have to travel an hour and a half from where I live to get a PCR or combo test done. There are only antibody tests in my town from quest diagnostics. I love this girl and never wanted to harm her and never would cheat on her. Just terrifying knowing delayed seroconversion still happens. I'm only 27 years old. I dunno what else to test for and only have an internal medicine doctor.
Delayed seroconversion is an urban legend- it does not happen.
I'm not really sure what else to tell you. Testing with a PCR and combo test is pointless because you don't have HIV- you might as well take a pregnancy test. Continue to work with your doctor, but put your focus on causes other than HIV.
I will not respond further but will leave this thread open in case Apollo wants to add anything.
Thank you very much for your opinion joggen it really means a lot, and I'll just keep praying you are correct. You know more than I do, but all I can do is tell you what's goin on and see your opinion. Thanks again joggen.
Just one more question. How can you guys say "urban legend?" Because I keep reading stories in the prevention forum and ppl are having severe problems and all they get told is that they are crazy and told to move along. Ppl may have had a positive result later but they are just called a liar and that they had to sleep with someone else after. I really haven't, and these symptoms are hiv symptoms, and I had a severe exsposure not a ******* or mutual masterbation or kissing. Mine was unprotected sex, and my gf who I had sex with after my "conclusive" result is now starting with symptoms just like I started with like headaches everyday, and severe muscle fatigue with no other cause for being so sore. All this happened after I came inside her thinking I was ok, and trusting my doctor, this sites advise, and the bodies site who said I "should" be ok and it "should" be conclusive. I'm seeing a doctor again today and doubt they will test me again although I know what it is, and dunno what I'm gunna do knowing I did all I could by advise given to me yet infected my girlfriend who I love. :(
Well hiv tests are the most reliable in the medical industry and you have already over tested. Now if you had symptoms of hiv, although their are NO specific symptoms, then you would test positive.... Fact.
What you might have read is outdated and mostly rubbish to scare posters like yourself, they are not credible.
You have wasted enough time on this, how much longer is up to you, but personally i would execpt the advice that has been given to you.
I was takin the advice of this website and you guys say three months refused less. I did test positive for mono, but hiv can reactivate mono and has mono symptoms. I was trying to forget about what was goin on with me until my girlfriend who doesn't know I'm terrified I have hiv started complaining about the same symptoms I started with after I started having unprotected sex with due to everybody telling me I'm fine. Mono symptoms don't last for 8 months and consist of eye floaters, high blood pressure, light colored stools, constant muscle fatigue and twitching, and all that stuff. The only thing that matches after unprotected sex is hiv. No other stds have those symptoms. I tested for everything at 6 months. I'm goin in again today and gunna beg to be checked again. Just really ***** they only offer lab based antibody tests by quest diagnostics, and I don't wanna hear the results. I know they are gunna be bad and imagine how I'm gunna tell my girl who is the mother of a child that I ruined her life. :( omg
Thanks for all your advice. If I find out I infected my I dunno what my next step will be? All my test where eia, and I went to planned parenthood today and they don't accept my insurance so I have no other options and my doctor won't test me anymore. I had a normal SED rate and immunoglobulin test. Something is literally ripping me apart and now starting to with my gf who is going to get tested soon. :( fml I thought six months was the most conservative view point. Guess it's one year?
This forum has provided all the advice that it can and you are not listening to it. Therefore, this thread is OVER. Continue to work with your doctors and mental health professionals.
