Ongoing HIV fear for months..help?

So, for a few months I had a fear that I've gotten HIV from a public restroom years ago. I finally went and had an HIV test done at a HIV counselling/testing cabinet. The result came back negative. However, about 2,5 weeks later I got a fever without any other symptoms. The fever was the highest when it started (37.6 C) and it's ongoing for 10 days now and it's usually 37.1-37.3 C.
My psychiatrist said that it's simply an obsessive thought. However, I'm still very scared that the nurse accidentally reused an infected needle, since the needles were all already taken out of the packaging and they were all (about 30-40 of them) placed on the table. I'm not sure, but I think they had caps on, but they definitely weren't packaged.

Don't know if this matters, but the needle she used was like this + blood collection tube:

It is impossible- needles used with vacutainers cannot be reused. That is all I have to say- I will not comment further as it will only fuel your obsession. Any additional comments from you on this will be deleted without reply.

So is it impossible to get HIV just from HIV testing cabinet or all clinics/family doctors?
And would you please look at the needle picture, because I don't live in the US and the needles used in here might not be the same(?)

Iatrogenic HIV infection (i.e. transmission to patients in a health care setting) does not occur in the modern industrialized world. It is simply impossible for needles to be reused accidentally, both through the training that health practitioners receive and as a result of design features of the needle itself. This applies to every single needle that is manufactured- I don't need to look at the hyperlink that you posted.

Nobody has ever caught HIV from having an HIV test. This is not a realistic concern (and neither was your concern over catching HIV from a public restroom) and I will not comment any further on it. The only way that you can become infected with HIV in your lifetime is if you have unprotected vaginal or anal sex, or share drug injection equipment with an IV drug user. Nothing else is relevant for HIV transmission.

Since you are seeing a psychiatrist, this forum cannot really help you beyond providing the factual information above. If you continue to have these concerns, they should be discussed with him/her, or any other mental health provider that you are seeing. I am not a psychologist and thus am not in a position to advise you on how to deal with obsessive thoughts.
