I spoken to a doctor who is an expert in HIV. That was what he said: "IN TERMS OF YOUR RISK, IT IS LOW BUT NOT ZERO. He said I need to come back 6 months later after the exposure, although he also told me not to worry too much, just pretend nothing happened and come back.
mate .. you have absolutely no risk...
if you are still worried... get a test done.. it will be surely negative...
oral sex is not a risk at all..
here in australia there are advanced sexual health clinics..
and hiv experts/doctors in these clinics dont ask people to test over oral sex.. coz.. they say that its not a risk at all...
The guy on the hotline was a moron.
Oral sex is NOT a risk for HIV, PERIOD.
Now move along.
I am still very worry, and I called a local HIV/AID hotline. The guy told me giving oral sex is high risk as I come in contact with body fluid. I am so scared to get tested.
So to complete my story. I remembered that I did rinse my month after the sex. I rinse with mouthwash, which I heard reduce the ability of saliva to inhibit HIV virus. After 30 minutes later, I rinse with water and then even Dettol. I am afraid that Dettol actually hurt my month and cause some leftover HIV virus to came into my system. Will this increase my risk?
oh pleeeeeeeeez...you think teak would tell someone that they didnt have a risk "just" to comfort them ? ? ?
teak LIVES with hiv/aids. the LAST thing he wants is for someone to contract hiv.
you have been assessed by this forum as NOT having a risk for contracting hiv. kindly move on, as there is nothing more we can add.
May I know based on what reasons or reference that you are so sure? I found you answer to most people are optimistic. I sincerely hope that you truly mean it instead of trying to comfort people.
Thanks again!
No you do not need any testing, wasting resouces and the labs time for a no risk issue.
No risk at all as Teak and Vance pointed out. But you should test to get rid of anxiety as it is a greater killer than HIV.
Sorry joggen, I could not find out where in his thread that his doctor ruled out the oral sex factor.
I just circumcised at Mar, half year before the incident and if she is newly infected (that antibodies have been developed yet). Would these factors put me at a higher risk?
I think I should comment on this since you brought up a thread that has the potential to cause a lot of anxiety. The poster in AIDMEDS (nycpoz) came to this forum a few months ago (different screen name) with his positive result. I stayed in contact with him by pm for a while. He told me his girlfriend tested NEGATIVE and hadn't been with anyone else before him after her negative test result. He did not get it from oral sex with his girlfriend. And if you read through his threads, you'll see that his doctor has also ruled out oral sex as a cause.
I'll have more to say on this in the HIV Anxiety Support forum.
How would you tell your friends you contracted HIV? Having unprotected anal sex or by saying I only had oral sex?
Sorry, you mean it is impossible to get it from oral sex?
Seriously, he said he did not have other high risk exposure.
Right and that is when he went for a ride with the Aliens.
It seems he described a case that the only risk is getting oral sex....

You had no risk, so no window period. Again listen and understand...YOU HAD NO RISK
I am very worry and very hard to stop worrying. In fact, I asked PEP after the incident, but only took 4 days. I am also a Hep B carrier and under lamivudine medication. What will my window period, 3 months or 6 months?
If you have no risk why should you test?
Thanks Teak for your promptly response.
Should I go test?
At no time were you at risk of contracting HIV.
