8week testing, negative turned positive

hi, i would jus like to say that all those worried about 8 week testing being reliable should test out to 3mnths, cos as it states 3mnths is conclusive, even thou a lot of people say that 8weeks is almost conclusive, i had a hiv test at 8weeks 1 day and it was negative only to b still havin symptoms 2 mnths later, went to the doctors for a full blood count, she said i would be called in if anything serious, well u guessed it i have been called in, i know what she is going to say, so all those who say you have never seen a 6-8 week negative turm positive, now we have and i know the exact time of my exposure... so 3mnths is definetly conclusive..

Hi heart31,

Eosinophils have nothing to do with viruses; they don't fight viruses, such as hiv.

If you are worried about hiv, you should go straight for a hiv test now, which would be conclusive.

Take care.

May God bless

OK but they need to get verbal consent and also tell the right to anonymity.

It doesn't take a signed consent. A verbal consent will suffice.

wow!
HIV tests can be done only with your consent and since they did not ask for it they will not do it!
it is required that hiv tests be done only with the signed consent of the person.

the ONLY way to know one's status is by having a hiv test.  a conclusive result is 3 months post exposure.  PERIOD ! ! !

hiv is not diagnosed by symptoms.
hiv is not diagnosed by a blood count test.
hiv is not diagnosed by you being called in to your dr.'s office
hiv is not diagnosed by the "look of concern" on the nurses's face.

YOU WANT TO KNOW YOUR STATUS...YOU TEST AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME

I had the same worries when I went in for my 6 month hiv and hepatitis panel. They mailed thyroid results and a letter to come in for other results. I was so certain after I called in and the lady on phone said I needed to schedule an appointment to see a nurse then she said doctor. I scheduled an appointment and they said usually you dont need to come in for hepatitis results just hiv. I get in and the lady at the front asked for my id and if that was my correct address. That made me worry more because they never do that. Turns out everything was negative. Dont worry. It will be fine and hiv shouldnt have any effect on a cbc.

Primary HIV symptoms don't persist that long. I don't think you're positive. Good luck.

well they were saying glandular fever negative, but full blood count not clear, you have to come in and see the doctor, ive had all the symptoms for the past 4mnths now, and even the nurse when she was takin my blood u cud see the concern in her face, i could see she was tryin to make me feel better, i know u might think im reading to much into it, but its jus a gut instinct....and the doctor did say if it was serious i was gonna be called into see her..

Hi heart31,

Full blood count usually don't take 2 weeks to process. It usually takes only 1 day to have it done.

That they called you in to collect your results in 2 days is nothing of concern.

And, no, they cannot detect antibodies in your blood by doing a full blood count.

If you are concerned about hiv, why not just have a hiv test now? It will be conclusive at this time.

May God bless

ok,well its still a blood test that is done , and she did take 2 seperate samples, so i suppose i wil jus have to wait and see.she said a full blood count so she can see if there is anything going on with me, as to y my symptoms are still persisting, so im guessing a hiv test will be done on a sample of my blood, or i guess they have seen antibodies floating round in my blood, but i know u know a lot more than me, im jus worried, she did say i would be called in if it was serious...

only a test specific for hiv will tell one's status...NOT  blood count.

i know i was trying not to worry, but when i was tellin her about my symptoms i cud jus see the look in her face, she said i must book for a blood test and i wll get the results in 2wks, got my appointment for blood tset 2 days later and the nurse said come bk in 2 days, so i thought y the sudden jump frm 2weeks to 2days if they were not concerned, i thought full blood count accounts for a lot of tests on the blood including hiv tests..well having a sore throat and swolen lymhnodes in armpit and groin  and constant dry cough that i cannot shift plus the rest of the symptoms 2 date is a real worry for me, but i jus have to be strong no matter the outcome...

a full blood count does not tell one's hiv status

Perhaps she's not calling you in about HIV... maybe it's some other illness that has been revealed by your bloodwork.  Don't jump to conclusions until you speak with your doc.

Hang in there....
