High risk exposure

Hi,

to make my story short, i had a high risk exposure (receptive anal) with a man who found out he was positive some days after our encounter. I have had all the symptoms in the book, except for the rash. Its been hell theis pasto four months. Ive taken 4 duo tests. 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks. All negative. Thank god.

Do you guys think that due to my high risk exposure and all of my symptoms should i take one final test at 6 months? or am i defenetly 100% in the clear?

Teak,

So, even if in the case of Jacob, you would fully accept the 3 month window period?

The CDC does not refer to 6 months anymore in their guidelines?

Why for health workers, there are guidelines for testing up to 12 months?

for people like us, I don't understand why we are not offered a PCR-DNA test. That would definitely rule out infection, right? Teak, Lizzie, anyone else to comment?

Hi,

I understand your concern. I have been in a similar situation. Last test was at 13 weeks and negative. But still I am not fully reassured (because I had a very high risk exposure like you, receptive anal sex with a person very likely to be positive, however he doesn't want to confirm this to me).

Did the guy ejaculate inside you?

I wish someone could guarantee that the 3 months window is truly conclusive, and not 'very reassuring for more than 99% BUT....).

Could someone please ask the doctors about the 6 months window still to be applied for some 'high risk cases' like us...

My last test was a duo Antibody + p24 antigen, 4 months post exposure. It was negative!
Do i need a 6 month test due to my high risk exposure and my symptoms?

Ok, just wanted to establish if you had a risk or not.
Your 12 week test was conclusive and you went beyod and had a 16 week test and yes it is beyond conclusive. You do not have HIV.

6 months is not a guideline used anymore and has not been used since 2004. Just about everyone here talks about symptoms...they are meaningless. Tests trumph all.
