HIV Very Concerned

Hi there,

I am a 34 year old male. About a week and a half ago I had a sexual encounter with an ladyboy sex worker in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. I preformed oral sex and also had oral sex performed on me. This was quite long in duration by both parties. My sexual partner then tried protected anal sex on me but I instantly stopped this after a few seconds as it was painful. I then performed protected anal sex for about five minutes, came, pulled out. In both instances of anal sex, the condom was used and did not fail.

Anyway, today, I have noticed that I am starting to develop a cold sore on my lip. I am pretty sure I have never had such a thing before. I should say that I saw no marks / sores on my partner but I am now thinking, if my sexual partner has one disease then she may have others and herpes is commonly associated with HIV. I believe that herpes actually increases the risk of HIV transmission. Given that my partner was high risk, I am now pretty worried that I have contracted HIV. Please can you help me with some straight facts as I really need someone to give me some concrete advice. I should say, I tested myself for all stds about a couple of months ago and everything was clean.

Would really appreciate your help as I am pretty damn terrified to be honest.

Kind regards,

P

You cant have HIV if your comdom didn't break, at worst you have a cold sore, probably brought on by the weather as they thrive with plenty of UV light is sunshine.
I am HIV poz I've never had a cold sore,  I know chlamidia and gonhorrea can slightly increase the risk but not herpes as far as I know.
All my non poz friends get them all the time its nothing to stress about.
Please take notice and relax you won't have HIV as there was no route for transmission due to the comdoms. The sex worker used condoms so I'm guessing they want to be clean too which should put your mind at ease, even ifbshendid have HIV and you didn't use protection you still might not have got it!
Chill, you will be fine... Hugs

Thanks very much. I thought that this would be the case but I guess I needed the reassurance. If you do stupid things then you live with the consequences.

You did not expose yourself to HIV because your anal penetrations were protected. Oral sex does not carry the risk. Having said that, other STD's may however be contracted through unprotected oral sex, Herpes for instance.

Yes herpes increases the possibility of HIV transmission but it does not apply in your case, because it is applicable to one who is already infected and having an outbreak while exposed.
