Fellatio with braces and possibly some wounds in mouth

To Dr. Handsfield,

Hi there.  I have recently posted regarding a different situation... I was tested for everything and all was negative.  My fairly recent partner was away on a business trip and ended up having relations a few times (unprotected oral sex and vaginal sex) with a woman he met there several weeks ago.

The guilt got to him before we had complete sex when he got home and he told me about it.  But before he fessed up, I had performed unprotected oral on him for about 1 to 2 min, no ejaculation, but there was a little precum.  I know the risk is low of performing oral sex, but I have braces and I tend to have little nicks and bumps in my mouth.  No overt bleeding or anything that I am aware of.  He also performed oral on me, but I am not too worried about that.  Being this is my partner, who I had requested he test on when we first became intimate, I did not worry.

I know his risk is low of catching anything from that woman, but if he had caught HIV in the last 6 to 8 weeks, he would be in the high viral load I am assuming so, my questions are:

1.  With having braces and some nicks and cankers, should I test for HIV due to his exposure being so recent.

2.  I know other STD's, like gonorrhea, herpes and syphilis are more of a risk.  I will check into those things with testing again in the near future, but I am not as worried about them.

I am very anxious and have had very few partners (3 in my 34 years) and always insist on testing before any intimacy occurs.  Of course, I am very hurt that he would cheat and that is probably a big factor in the way I am feeling.

I really hope to not have to test for HIV, as I just need to get past this and just did HIV testing.

Please do not delete and please provide some thought about whether the braces and little nicks/cankers make a difference.  From other posts, I believe I should be okay, but need some reassurance.

Thanks so much!

No worries, the only possible way to ever transmit from oral sex if if you had a lot of very large open wounds in your mouth and he ejaculated in your mouth. And if you had those kinds of large wounds you would likely be at the doctor gettiong it treated and wouldnt be even thinking of giving a blowwjob because your mouth would be in extreme pain. And even if you still gave him oral in that situation the chance of transmission is still very low.

Bottom line is that you are fine.

P.S.  I did eventually post in the right forum (a more brief posting this time) but I imagine the doc will say the same.

Thanks again all!

Happy Friday to you!

Thanks all!

This is great to have this.  I am a worrywart and having braces and mouth wounds is always on my mind.

As for my partner... I have let him go.  I am a one-man type of girl so not very understanding when it goes to cheating.

Posted by accident, thought I was in the doctors forum, but glad I posted here nonetheless...

So you truly think with my minor mouth abrasions I have no worries at all?

Now I have read your whole post, your partner its at risk for having unprotecetd vaginal, but since the chance of having unprotecetd vaginal is 1/2000 that he infected and the chance of you giving him a ** is 1/10000 the your overall risk would be 1 in 20 millions and that iz zero, so dont worry about, use a condom with your partner until he receives his result of the test 3 months after exposure, but try to relax.

Good luck

Zero risk from oral and even lower with no ejaculation lol, so all in all zero risk. Dont worry about it anymore.

BTW the Dr. is in the expert forum and it will cost you $15 to get the same answer from him that you just got from me.
