Hi Teak,
Thank you for your clarifications. Actually, the doctor never gave me any advice, he just said leave the decision to me. By the way, i felt damned remorseful over this incident and cannot get over it for the past 3 days. As i said, i hope nothing bad happens due to this misadventure. Thanks Buddy.
You don't meet the guidelines but that will be up to your doctor.
Hi,
I have read this thread moments ago and it makes me more worried. So, can anyone gives me more solutions? Should i go for the HIV PEP or should i wait for 3 months for the test? Your advice is very important to me. Thank you
Regards
Assumptions, odds or satistics are nothing. Only test tell the story.
This forum doesn't use conservative assumptions, odds or satistics which will never tell one their status.
All my estimates are based on conservative assumptions.
Of course, a sex worker may not be able to take 10 guests a day for 3 months a row without a break.
Of course, the true positive is known usually before the 3 months.
Of course, the HIV is more likely to spread to the sex worker some time AFTER the test.
Of course, the effectivity of a condom nears somewhere around 100%.
Hence the numbers, and you can even multiply the impossibility to make it more realistic.

First doctor's answer par. 1: ......"Part of the answer has to do with the fact that we try our best to provide answers based on available scientific data and, for a variety of complex mathematical reasons far too involved to go into here, all one can do with well conducted scientific studies is estimate probabilities. By definition, any estimate, cannot be 100% certain. Put another way "stuff happens" and we never say “never”, nor do we ever say “always”"
10-fold is the conservative estimate, considering the stuff really happens. Just like a male in New York bearing child some years back.
A condom used correctly and consistently are 100% effective in preventing HIV and most STDs.
Oh yes. Based on that and the doctor's link, I assumed that the protection provided by the condom would be at least tenfold.
http://www.cdc.gov/condomeffectiveness/latex.htm
Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Including HIV Infection, Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including diseases transmitted by genital secretions, and to a lesser degree, genital ulcer diseases. Condom use may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated diseases, e.g., genital warts and cervical cancer.
Laboratory studies have demonstrated that latex condoms provide an essentially impermeable barrier to particles the size of STD pathogens.
I would refer to the doctors' words and I hope it's allowed:

I refer to the word "US or other industrialized country". Singapore also belongs to industrialised countries. You could also check elsewhere.

I refer to the word "virtually zero"
To give correct information. Scientific data and facts not your person opinions.
Sorry, it was Vance2335's.
I made my assumption based on YOUR answer. I do have my own assessment and I don't have it baseless as far as I know. After all, this forum is created so that everybody could exchange his/her idea, isn't it? And I DO know Singapore, since I live in Indonesia and have been several times in Singapore.
How can you say that and you didn't even know what the definition exposure was? Don't be coming here arguing with people that have been doing assessments for years.
If I'm not mistaken, every sex worker in Spore should get themselves checked (by officials, which are themselves strict) about once a month. Assume a prostitute catches HIV soon after the test and they take 10 clients a day for 3 months (assuming the conservative estimate of the HIV+ result) in a row without a break, which mean 900 exposures. Based on the info I got from the doctor forum, the chance of man-to-woman transmission is like 1 in 1,000 exposures, which is more than tenfolded assuming the sex worker adheres to a strict condom usage. That means she has a possibility of 1 in more than 10,000 exposures to infect her clients. STATISTICALLY, IF this is right, then her licence will be revoked before she infects her client, assuming all above is correct. But of course...stuff happens.
The chance of that is minimised by the fact they adhere to the use of condoms, assuming they are really aware of the use of condoms, which I am sure they do. And as far as I know Singaporean standard of that is comparable to that you may find in Western Europe, really. Singapore is more like Japan than the Third World. And Singaporean clients are very strict when it comes to safe sex.
Even at that HIV is most often spread when a person is in there window period in this type of work.
As far as I know, a prostitute in Singapore is legally obliged to perform sex using condoms, of course nobody would know if by mutual consent she removes the condom for the sake of more pleasure with the client. And of course she could still spread HIV even if she's out of business. I'm referring to the sex industry in Singapore though after all.
Well if you see the acts of many actors in the porn industry (at least based on the American porn videos I see), they don't wear condom after all, or exchange sex toys just freely, which increase the risk.
Just being put out of a job doesn't help the other soles that had unprotected sex with her and Yes HIV has been transmitted in the Porn industry.
I hope you do know that the sex industry in Spore is very regulated; each sex worker should be registered and regularly tested for HIV (and maybe other STDs), and of course, once she's infected, she's out of business.
Thanks Bro.
I will wait for 3 months and carry out the test. In the mean time, i pray nothing serious will happens. Really appreciate your advice.
No, Symptoms mean nothing at all when it comes to HIV. You will need to test in 3 months for your conclusive result.
Hope this helps!
As for not knowing her status I would say no PEP treatment is recommended
Hope this helps
