6 month's is old and outdated information.
No, all HIV test's (lab tested or rapid) will remain at over 99% even if tested at 3 month's, 6 month's or 1 year.
99% plus, is the maximum for any test because 100% cannot be optioned (it is a scientific impossibility).
99% plus is simply the best it can be and for all purposes ( such as your case), it is 100%.
You are negative.
which report? what does it say?
Hello All,
Generally speaking, whether a test after 3 months is conclusive ??
why a test after 6 months is recommended ?
Even my test results report says this...
Is it because at 90 days is 99% and at 6 months 100%?
Yes if done at 90 days and over they are over 99% accurate. Your two test's prove you are negative.
I was trying to show you how well thought they are by health care professional's.
I contacted FreedomHealth and they told me over 97℅ at 6 week's and over 99℅ at 90 day's.
I try to be extremely accurate in my post's. so if I do make a error; I will say so.
Over 97% accurate for a rapid test at 6 week's is still excellent.
Sorry for any misunderstandimg.
You have nothing to worry about.
All the best.
What do you mean?
I meant that my tests were done more than 6 weeks, so it should be more than 99% correct?
My apologies.
FreedomHealth believe Rapid tests are over 97% accurate by 6 week's. Not the 99% I stated earlier.
They are still conclusive by 90 day's.
Ps it was also a rapid test
Just came back from a second test, this morning negative too, I'm sure the two can't be false negative, I will let this go correct?
PS, they have to be operated by registered and qualified health official's.
That is why they can only be used in a clinical setting (unlike America, there is not a legal home based test in the UK).
If this is what you done, you have nothing to worry about.
Take care.
In my opinion, yes.
They would not have been passed by the tough conditons and benchmark that the CDC and FDA set as a standard and quality control if they were not accurate.
Nor would the NHS use them if they did not work (it costs them taxpayer's money to use them).
They are accurate and conclusive at 90 day's and over and surely your clinic would have said something, if they did not believe they were accurate.
All the best.
Thanks sharkboy, can I then move on and have unprotected see with my wife without fear?
Rapid test's were designed primarily for use in 3rd world counties where people may not have access to GUM clinic's.
Designed in Canada, many clinic's and patients favour them because they hive instant result's, without having to return to the clinic. Many people who have traditional test's do not return for result's.
Considered as accurate as lab test's if taken at correct time (i.e. 90 day's).
They can sometimes give a false positive, but very rarely (due to the sensitivity of the test).
A false negative after 3 months is unlikely.
You should consider yourself negative.
Like any different and new test, it takes people time to accept them.
Like in Canada, in the UK these test's have to be performed in a clinic by a registered and qualified health practioner.
They are approved by the CDC, FDA and used by NHS in Britain.
Pretty good reason's to consider your test true and accurate.
Take care.
I have already answered that. But go to a Dr and get blood drawn because you clearly don't trust the rapid test.
no but thats not how I did it, here in Canada you cant buy them and use at home, you have to go to an STD clinic and thats were I had it. it wasnt the oral test but the one where they get blood out of your finger and result shows right away, are you familiar with this test? is this good enough?
They were designed for home use so that anyone could use them.
last question, even with the rapid test? it looks kind of mickey mouse thats why im not sure if thats good enough to be conclusive and I can rely on its results?
Anything after 3 months is conclusive.
also, if I have a second rapid test would that make it more conclusive in say about 2 weeks more as opposed to a lab test?
what would you do if you were me?
Dr Sean Cummings of Freedom Health based here in London, believes rapid test's are 99% accurate by 6 week's!
I hope I have helped.
Take care.
