Can dormant HSV increase my HIV risk?

Hi! I have had HSV type 1 (herpes on the mouth but dormant) since I was a kid. I'd like to ask.

(1)Although I didn't have cold sores at the time of the intercourse, will HSV increase my chances of contracting HIV? I read online that having another STD increases risk of getting HIV. I don't have the genital herpes type, though. And I only engaged in oral sex as the insertive/active larger (I was the one getting "sucked")

(2)Can anyone recommend ways to treat cold sores on the mouth? Do they always require medication?

Thanks!

Thanks! Does this apply to both the insertive and receptive partner? And does this only apply to people who don't have cold sores during oral sex?

Yes, STDs do increase the likelihood of transmission, but not for oral sex.
