Thnx Teak, appreciate the re-assurance and timely reply. I plan on rapid test in 2 weeks which will put me 6 months out just to be responsible. Best wishes
After a high risk exposure I had a primary herpes outbreak. Apparently I had it in my system and had been dormant. Along with my herpes outbreak I also experienced a month or two of numbness and tingling in hands and feet. Followed by joint discomfort. Wrists, ankles and even toes. Now this week I'm feeling discomfort in both armpits. I am 5 1/2 months out, still have urge to **** and been getting hemorroids.
I was tested for HIV 1&2 neg at 98 days with ELISA test and at 137 days. Just tested negative rapid finger 162 days. And though you are not an advocate I tested neg PCR 28 days and 137 days.
I'm anxious and stressed. Dealing with dry skin and a few cankor sores as well. I never used drugs, have no medical issues prior. No immune disorders or transplants. Could the primary herpes outbreak delay positive antibody? I know 3 month is solid but someone can slip through. Thnx in advance for any advice. And no, I'm not nuts, just anxious.
Thats mean any generation of test 3 month will be conclusive
Ok. So they use the same test for either type 1 or 2. I read somewhere that even if the Doctor doesn't write hiv 2 the third gen. tests can pick it up, is that true. I am a liitle nervous about my test. At 5 weeks and 2 day I had some ars symtoms, was that too late? There was never a fever.
That is HIV TYPES nothing to do with generation.
Thank you Teak, was I right about what you had stated, no matter what lab they all run third generation, It was strange, my first test order said hiv 1 and 2 .This new doc is same hospital but the large script form where they mark thing off only has hiv 1. I am not concerned about 2, I know it is irrelevant if I have only been in the states. But does that mean they run a different elisa? So confusing.
Your allergies will not affect your test results nor would claritin.
Thanks. So if I got this right the hospital labs are using third generation, also, correct? The hospital I go to says they send some things out , but they are able to do elisa tests there, so I imagine they are third generation, correct? They said they batch them and run them once a day, I am assuming due to expense. I am going to get my test tomorrow and my allergies are really bad , Iknow the claritin won't casue a problem, but will the allergies themselves? I love all the info you are able to give.Tx
Yes the tests are 3rd generation. A lot of hosiptals have to need to send there tests out if they have the equipment in their Path lab to run the tests. A test at 3 month post exposure wouldn't matter what generation it was would be conclusive.
