HIV - Rapid at 39 days

Hi, first of all - excellent forum. Well done.

I had a high risk exposure 8 weeks ago, I got tested at around 39 days ( nearly 6 weeks ). The test the doctor used was a Hexagon rapid test, he drew blood from my arm and the result came back as negative. He told me its near enough to 99% accurate but to come back at 3 months.

I'm just anxious as I have never heard of this HIV test before and I am fearing a positive if I return at 12 weeks. Can someone please shed some light on this... I cannot relax at all

Contact your health ministry or the manufacture of the test. To see if it's approved where you live.

This is a nightmare the manufacturer is called Human. Please see http://www.human.de/index.php?id=5003&L=2%20target%3D

and note the HIV test - it is noted as a 3rd generation test. I understand that you are saying it is not approved in the USA so does this mean the test is not reliable, should I be worried testing again at 3 months ?

Im so nervous

We have no way of telling if your test is approved or reliable. It's just not approved in the US.

I did the Duo HIV test in private clinic in UK on 29th day of exposure and it was negative. I was in the low risk i.e. the relation was only lip kissing with prostitute. Last week after 9 weeks of exposure I had flue like symptoms, now im a bit worring of HIV. Should I do the 90 days test or the Duo test was conclusive?

Many thanks for your kind help
