A simple antibody test of any generation is conclusive after 19 months of the exposure,,, No need for any other test if it comes negative
Thanks! And being that the testing was done after being possibly exposed by someone who has been diagnosed with Aids since 1997, there is no way that the virus could have been missed in the tests right?
There is no chance that tests could be wrong is there?
Their is no chance that both of these tests were wrong.
Thank you. I worry because the doctor or lab mid-handled the 1draw of blood and had to have it drawn a 2nd time.
Also having skin issues, pitriasis alba and molluscum
Is blood from hiv + person on an inanimate object infectious if I touched it and touched my nose on the inside, which was bleeding?
Thanks Vance. What if blood was 10 seconds fresh from + person to inanimate object to my mucosal nose membrane that I scratched and was bleeding? I scratched it again after having touched inanimate object with the Fresh hiv + blood! Scares me!
If the blood was seconds fresh, still no possibility of transmission? I was pushing inside my nose very hard as my nose was bleeding and that is when I realized I had touched the other persons blood with that same finger!
Viruses are very fragile they cannot survive outside the body so, only way the transmission occurs is inside the body. You have NO risk.
Thanks but been having some crazy symptoms that could be hiv related: pityriasis alba, molluscum contagiosum, and canker sores. Are you sure that there was no chance of being infected and that the tests could not have been wrong?
You had NO risk for HIV, there are thousands of other ressons for your symptoms but if you are fixdated in HIV then it is not going to help. See a doctor for your symptoms it has NOTHING to do with HIV.
Thank you! One last question. Is a HIV-1 RNA Qualitative test accurate after sero-conversion? I have read that it is accurate in aiding a '+' result, but maybe not so accurate as a stand-alone test to prove a negative result. FYI-I took this test 19 months possible exposure. If hiv would have been contracted, would my body have controlled the virus enough that it would not be picked up in the RNA test 19 months later? Results: HIV-1 not detected.
If you had the virus than it would have definitely shown in the results.
These tests are highly sensitive and they can give more false positive rather than false negative.
So even months past seroconversion the test will still detect the RNA???
Move on man, repeating the same thing again and again does not change the response you are getting.
Could the tests have been done incorrectly therefore yielding an incorrect result???!!!
Ask where you have done the test if they did it correctly or not
