is this good enough time to be conclusive? for this test?
Well my doc said 6 months.. I also wanted make sure the timing is conclusive. The incident happened on febuary 2nd.. and i was tested on the 19th (yesterday).
A test at 3 months is conclusive not 6 months.
Oh..I also have to go back in six months but as long as I can assume Im clear then I can live psychologically symptom free!!!
Well....I got my results back..I was tested for HIV 1+2 and it appears non-reactive...Which I guess means..IM OK!!! What a relief..OMG...Thank you lord.
But I take this as a learning experience and will treat my body as a sacred keeping and not put myself in dangerous situations ever again.. Thanks for all your support!
What about having a nasty taste in my mouth? Is this any sort of symptom of either HIV or Chlamydia?
By fever, they mean an elevated body temperature that can be measured with a thermometer.
A few more things, but, take your time getting back..theres no rush..
recurring fever is said to be a possible symptom of HIV within the first few weeks. Is this at all associated with hot-flash feelings? Or could this be from the antibiotic for the chlamydia?
Yes, the symptoms are quite noticeable if you get them.
Okay. Take care. Let us know! Bye.
ok...thanks for your time and support..gonna try to sleep now..talk Monday.
Well thank you very much for all your help and support, I hope it turns out well for myself and partner. I was just wondering also if the symptoms are highly noticable? If you get them?
Symptoms are not a reliable method to diagnose HIV. A large percentage of HIV-infected individuals never experience symptoms.
I know that is is very hard not to self-diagnose or not to pay attention to all your body's possible symptoms, but do try to avoid doing that.
HIV does not discriminate. Anyone who shares IV drug works is at a very high risk of contracting HIV, and drugs have hit inner cities the hardest. But just because somebody is non-white or poor does not mean that they are necessarily at a higher risk of HIV.
Try to take it easy until Monday. Let us know the results. It is highly likely that you will be negative just because HIV is not very prevalent in the population; however, in the very unlikely case that you would test positive, Teak (that's his user name) is an HIV expert who contributes immensely to this forum, and he is also an HIV-positive person who can offer you much support and knowledge.
It is not going to be a fun weekend to get through with all the anticipation, but it is going to be okay.
whatever the case may be..this person may or may not have been infected..and if they were...i understand i am at risk..so..you are saying the symtoms would be highly noticable?
I honestly would have never suspected the disease but my partner has done alot of harping on the subject and keeps reminding me that this person could possibly be from a particular area around here where it is poverty like conditions, people of color, and the under education..drugs and etc.. people who dont give a care about themselves or infecting others. And thats what scares me.
I understand your worries about how your partner would feel, but let's hope that he is an understanding adult (and he should be!).
Symptoms would NOT occur the day after infection. Sometimes, HIV-infected persons will have ARS 2-4 weeks after exposure, which causes enlarged (typically visibly enlarged) lymph nodes in the neck, underarm, and groin areas. Also, there can be other flu-like symptoms.
Im pretty sure its been longer than seven days. The test I had done was drawing blood from my arm..I have no clue what they check for..but doc said I would have to go back in 6 months. So would symptoms really show once infected? I remember feeling sick the next day after the incident occured..I thought It was due to the partying..but then i remembered I only had three drinks..thats how i new i was date raped. but i still should have been smarter to tell my partner then.I guess I was afraid he would blame me.
If you live in a major city, you can probably get rapid testing done at a local Planned Parenthood location or with an HIV/AIDS taskforce organization or with a health department.
You don't know what kind of blood test was done?
4 weeks negative result with an antibody test post exposure can give you a moderate level of confidence about your status. The average HIV infected person will develop antibodies within 23 days. However, it is quite possible for an infected person not to develop them for up to 3 months.
There are tests that lower the window period because they look for a specific antigen in the blood that can be detected as low as 7 days after the result.
About a month ago it occured.
I had a blood test done today.. doc said it should be ready by monday.. I heard about the fast one..but where over the weekend?
Chlamydia can be transmitted through vaginal or anal intercourse. We won't focus on that much more.
What test did you have done? When did the rape occur (what date)?
