Anxious

Hey guys,

I had a risky encounter with a transsexual escort a little over a month ago.  We had unprotected oral sex and he did protected anal sex on me.  I did not do anal sex on him.  I am mostly concerned about the HIV test.  They say it takes 3 months for the test to be reliable.  However, I am anxious to wait that long because I want to be in a committed long term relationship with a woman... but I'm nervous about the possibility of having HIV because I don't want to break up with her if we get back together.  What are the chances I could have contracted HIV from this?  If I test 32-42 days out will the results be reliable?  I don't mind re-taking the test at the 3 month mark.. I just don't have the patience to wait that long to talk to this girl and I don't want the possibility of a positive result to cause me to break up with her.  Waiting for two months to tell a girl you want to be with her is extremely difficult.  Thanks for your adice.

Doctors on the expert forum consider oral sex as a NO RISK exposure because of the very low probability of infection. There isn't a single confirmed reported case of HIV transmission by oral sex.

If the condom didn't break, you shouldn't worry over the protected anal sex. Condoms serve as an effective barrier to prevent the exchange of body fluids that transmit the virus. Therefore, you don't need to get tested.

Keep practicing safe sex with your girlfriend.

Unprotected oral is not a risk for HIV infection, and neither is protected anal. This particular situation is nothing for you to worry about as far as HIV is concerned. You weren't at risk this time.

In the future, if you have an ACTUAL risk, only a test at 3+ months post-exposure can tell you your HIV status. Be well.
