Hi Doctor,
I'm a male and I had vaginal sex with a sex worker nearly 10 weeks ago. The condom broke so the tip of my penis was exposed for few seconds before I pulled out.
obviously I've been worried sick and had the following tests:
PCR RNA test after 20 days
HIV duo 4th Gen (anibody+P24 Antigen) after 28 days
HIV anitbody after 6 weeks
they all came back as negative. Now, at nearly 10 weeks from the accident, I'm having a sore tongue, which makes me suspect of a oral thrush. this has brought back my paranoia about having caught HIV and the tests missing it. The scientific community doesn't really help as everyone has got different guidelines. so I was thinking about taking another HIV duo test today.
1)what is the actual accuracy of the HIV duo test at 28 days? I read there is a small probability that the antibody is missed after 6 weeks, what is the probability that the antibody+antigen are missed at 4 weeks?
2)would a HIV duo test be conclusive at 10 weeks?
3) what is the probability of a false positive with a HIV duo test 4th Gen?
many thanks for your help
