HI all
Much said/written on this forum. however need our opinion/advice. here the story goes:
I am male 36 yrs old - slept with a female 40 yrs old after being on a wet night out. We had both oral, vaginal and anal sex - all of it unprotected. Duration I am not sure of - but it was not a quicke neither an all nighter...
I have before had occasions of freaking out after unnprotected sex and have at all occasions been tested negative for HIV.
So this case is a bit special as the woman I slept with lives in an area which has a higher prevalence of HIV than other western europe countries. Having said that she stated to be clean and recently tested (only one encounter in between test and the sex she had with me). Further her sexual record does not speak in favor of high risk.
However after approx 10 days I was hit by symptoms... to very specific I felt a bit hit by the flu... so regular feeling of fatigue in the body, slight joint/muscle pain, come and go headaches, slight sore throat, cold sweat on the forehead. I also seem to have slightly swollen lymph nodes on the right side of the neck - however I have also been touching them on and off like 20 times a day- so maybe they are just irritated. When taking my temperature I maxed out on 37.5c (99.5) on evenings and had around 36.6 (97.8) in the mornings so no fever.
This situation has been ongoing for now 10 days - I still feel fatigued to this day.
Now I am soon to be tested at the 4 week mark. And my partner in crime was tested yesterday still awaiting results from the clinic.
Anyway - I am ending up here with the question of how likely it is that I am experiencing ARS symptoms as a result of seroconversion/acute HIV with no fever, no rash? Further if she caught the virus only 5-7 days prior to having sex with me how is the viral load then in her system? I understand that viral load increases dramatically the first 2-5 weeks however I am unsure how it is the first week after exposure/transmission.
I appreciate any views/perspectives as I am literally freaking out after this dumb incident.
all the best and thanks in advance,
take care - cheers,
the Viking
