Ask them if it was a there elisa test was a combo test. If it is ag/ab then you can trust your results. If you remain worried you can do a 4th gen test anytime now and the results are conclusive.

it sounds as though he is testing to make sure he didnt get anything from you and vice versa.so ifboth of you were sure that neither one had it then obviously it would be highly unlikely but if one of you knew you were positive.that would pose a slight risk did you have any stmptoms?if not then the advice you were given will be adequate test at 3 months and if you get a negative be confident with your diagnosis .

I would say the ELISA HIV test is pretty reliable. But since you had a Unprotected sexual exposure I would say take the same test at 3 Months for a conclusive result but since he tested at 26 days as HIV Negative I wouldn't be too worried but then again it depends on when he last had sex with someone because he could still be in that window period. I'm not a Doctor but I would suggest for both of you to take a HIV test at 3 months to put your minds at rest. If you 2 are dating take it together provide support for one another since it is scary to be taking a test for something that is really scary.

If you want more information on HIV you can go to www.AIDS.gov or www.Avert.com. Both site's offer a great deal of Information that you might find useful.
