How fast

How quick after exposure is it reported that anyone ever started having symptoms?  I had a drunken one night fling with some colombian stranger the other night and did not tell my husband.  My husband and I had sex 3 days later and he woke up with a swollen throat less than 24 hours after.  He did preform oral sex.  He is now feeling ill.  Sore throat, flu, diarrhea, etc.  No fever yet that I know of.  I have not felt any symptoms.  He did not have anxiety that might have influenced his symptoms as he didn't know anything when they appeared.  I am concerned for him.  I have since told him.  He is not concerned however, I am and could not live with myself if I caused him such a horrible destiny.  Please advise.  Of couse, I have been on the internet and am about to suggest he go talk to the doctor about PEP as it has not been 72 hours since possible exposure from me.  What should I do?

Wht's up?!
It happens, learn from it and make a better decision next time.
Usually, the virus 'keeps quiet' for around 2 weeks, during which an infected individual feels normal and is highy contagious, after this period ARS develops within 2-4 weeks in some individuals, so wht your husband is experiencing is totally unrelated to HIV.
On terms of HIV infection, I am assuming your risk was unprotected vaginal sex, you AND your husband need to get tested 3 months after YOUR exposure and 3 months after his with you.
In the meanwhile, you need to either abstain or use a Condom.
It isn't likely tht you got HIV from one unprotected exposure, so try not to worry and you can both test at 6 weeks to get a really good indication of your status. Test at 3 months for a final answer, this is necessary.
Smile.
=)
Best of luck to you and your husband.
Always use a Condom, I'm assuming you didn't, the 'fling' time.

Oral sex is not a risk for HIV, If you had unprotected sex with your husband after you had unprotected sex with your "Fling" then you are both at risk.

His symptoms have nothing to do with HIV, they would start 2-4 weeks after exposure and last 1-2 weeks. If he was at risk.

PEP is for people KNOWN to have have had an exposure with an HIV+ person

If you had unprotected sex get tested at the 3 month mark post exposure.

Hope this helps
