Hello doctors,

Firstly thank you for this resource, I have read countless pages of info that have proved seemingly invaluable to others, I hope you can help me. 11 days ago I visited a massage parlour and had drunken sex with one of the girls. The club was in Edinburgh, Scotland. I received protected oral sex, I gave her unprotected cunnilingus whilst fingering her at the same time. I came a little during her oral on me but I retained my erection and proceeded to have vaginal sex with her without changing the condom. I realised what a mistake I was making and we stopped having sex. I then came down with flu like symptoms and my testicles are slightly sore as is my lower back.

I'm completely petrified of my situation, I have not slept for over a week with worry and I have a cintinously dry mouth.

I am awaiting my STD test results, taken after 10 days. This includes a pcr HIV test.

What are the chances of me getting HIV from this exposure? And how accurate will the pcr test be after 10 days? The wait for my results is killing me and the ultimate 3m wait for the conclusive test is a nightmare.

Please help,

William

You were given your assessment. You never had an exposure and don't need testing. Seek professional mental health help if you cannot comprehend the assessments you have been given. You have been reported to medhelp, enough is enough.

You are correct, I have already taken the pcr RNA test and will be testing again at 4 weeks. However, I just want to know if my symptoms are suggesting anything? Please can someone help. I promise not to post any more.

I would presume that you're not a regular goer to these massage parlors, which is why your mind is playing tricks on you by establishing guilt, thus creating the possibility that the condom might have failed.

Get tested already at 4 weeks to clear your doubts.

My doubts have arisen based on the potential that the condom failed, being as drunk as I was I can't remember and I'm worried my symptoms are suggesting it may have failed. If my symptoms are not linked to HIV then I can be happier the condom didn't fail or come off.

you have been assessed as NOT having a risk for contracting hiv from what you have described.

hiv is transmitted through...
unprotected vaginal / anal intercourse
sharing iv drug works
mother to child

kindly move along...you do not have a hiv concern and we are not a psychological counseling service.

I don't know how you can say that when you have the knowledge to help someone. In the time that response took to write you could have easily answered my question and helped me.

So my issues are pure coincidence? If I had unprotected sex and had the same issues would you still say they are not HIV related?

Those symptoms your having are not ARS symptoms.Relax.you never had a risk from your encounters, hiv is not transmitted that way.

Like I said I was very drunk and it is not 100% clear. Do my symptoms suggest a possible issue?

You had no HIV risk, so they have nothing to do with it.

Had the condom failed you would have known and remember even considering that you were drunk. You wouldn't be here questioning it. You never had an exposure.

I'm sorry to repost on here but I don't feel there is anything else I can do. I understand that that most people in the group are saying that I had no risk but... 2.5 weeks after the event I have developed a mild sore throat and a my lower back is very sore, are these potential signs of HIV? I'm starting to worry that the condom may have failed as I was very drunk and cannot remember everything clearly. Please advise and I will put this to bed.

Im starting to appreciate that now. However sometimes you need to do things for your own peace of mind. You guys provide an amazing service that I and many others are grateful
for but sometimes even the smallest doubt can eat away at you. Words can only comfort you in these cases and you need more to satisfy your own insecurities regardless of how unrealistic you are being. Please don't ever stop the work that you do.

I just wanted to update everyone that may potentially read this thread. I received my test results back today - both my urine and blood tests came back clear. My HIV RNA pcr test also came back clear at a completely normal level. I know I'm not completely clear as yet but I have a weight lifted off my shoulders and feel much better. My advice is to get tested and learn from your mistakes. Stay safe everyone and god bless.

Thank you so much, you guys provide a wonderfully reassuring service. If I could ask one more question.... I will cancel my HIV tests tomorrow, but would you advise going ahead with general std tests?
