5th week of likely exposure

Dear MedHelp,

On 17th Dec 2010, I had a protected vaginal sex with a Commercial Sex Worker. I received an unprotected oral sex from her without knowing whether she has any ulcear or open sore in her mouth. Immediately after the whole session, I washed my penis with shampoo and spit out the saliva in my mouth.

This week marked the 5th week of the likely exposure. I had done Chlamydia, GC and rapid oral HIV test. All the results are negative.

However, few days ago I caught flu which lasted for few days. I can also feel the stiftness on the left of my neck. Furthermore, I noticed non-itchy red dots on both my tights and arms.

Q:

1. What is the risk of me having HIV?

2. How accurate is it to take rapid oral HIV test at 5th week of likely exposure? Do I need to take another test on the 3rd month of likely exposure?

3. How do you explain the non-itchy red dots?

Helps are much appreciated. Thanks!

You have a conclusive result since you had no risk.

Why does it even matter? You had no risk.

Yes you can have symptoms and get a negative test, but a test would turn positive maybe 1-2 weeks after the symptoms.

People can live for years and years having HIV but never testing. A 3 month antibody test is conclusive.

Thanks Vance2335 for your reply.

Another question.

Is it possible to have HIV symptoms but blood test is negative? I read articles stating that some people can live for years without detecting for HIV. Is that true?

1. Zero
2. You didn't have an exposure, so no need to test
3. We don't see a Dr, they are not HIV related.
